How to Shop Local for the Holidays in Sun Valley, Idaho
Whether you’re just in town for the holidays or have been a long-time local, there are some incredible businesses and brands to support right here in the Wood River Valley. And at a time when small businesses have needed more support than ever, we’re excited to be showcasing some of our favorite companies to help fill your stockings and complete your gift list this season.
Gifts for Her
With a number of great boutiques and gift stores around town, it’s hard to choose our top three. From great statement accessories to timeless stationary, these are our favorites Gifts for Her.
Lux Shack
The Lux Shack is one of our favorite places in town. Described as a “hybrid” store, the Lux Shack offers a variety of new and consiged items. Owned by Wood River Valley local Shelly Root, the boutique offers a wide variety of pieces, including both women’s and infants’ apparel.
If you’re looking to keep your gifts under $100, you’re in luck! The entire store is priced at less than $100.
Willow Papery
If you haven’t had the joy of visiting Willow Papery, it’s a must-see during your holiday shopping spree. There’s such a happy and colorful energy from the moment you walk through the door. From gorgeous stationary to classic gifts (candles, bath & body products, jewelry, and more), there are plenty of pieces to browse this holiday season.
Girl Friday
If you’re searching for more traditional apparel items, you can’t go wrong with Girl Friday. From statement-making accessories to beautiful sweaters and loungewear, there are so many pieces to choose from. They also offer a wide variety of gifts, like sleep masks, hand lotions, notepads, and more. Gift cards are also available (which make for great stocking stuffers!)

PK's Ski and Sports
If your gift list features someone who loves the outdoors (especially skiing), you’re in luck. Since 1981, PK’s has been a locals’ favorite. From bike rentals to ski and snowboard gear, there’s plenty of holiday favorites to shop this season. PK’s offers skis, boots, and bindings from Salomon, Head, Fischer, Nordica, K2, and more.
Silver Creek Outfitters
Silver Creek Outfitters is a great stop for holiday gifts and winter favorites. With top-line inventory and quality gear, Silver Creek offers a variety of items at a wide range of price points. From accessories like hats and gloves to other apparel and outdoor gear, this is the perfect place to find your last-minute gifts. They’ll be closed Christmas Day, but you can stop in anytime between 9:00-5:00 pm on Christmas Eve!
Sturtevants
Founded in 1948, Sturtevants is one of the oldest ski shops in the country. Sturtevants is a great stop along your holiday shopping route, especially if you’re looking for outdoor gear like coats or ski pants. They also offer ski and snowboard rentals, demos, boot fittings, and more. With an emphasis on customer service, the Sturtevants staff will gladly help you find the perfect gifts this season.

If you are celebrating this season with younger kids or toddlers, we have a few favorites in town. Perfect for children of all ages, our top three businesses offer a variety of gifts.
The Toy Store
For over 30 years, the iconic Sun Valley Toy Store has been the go-to for kids holiday shopping. Carol Knight has owned and operated the local favorite for decades, providing exceptional service to families all across the valley. The Toy Store offers a wide range of gifts, ranging from classic favorites to exciting new must-haves.
If you don’t want to make the trip into town, you can also shop the Toy Store in Sun Valley. Located in the heart of the resort, the Toy Store’s second location offers an exceptional selection of gifts for the holiday season.
Country Cousin
Country Cousin is a great Sun Valley gift spot. From classic tees and tanks to stuffed plush creatures and jewelry, this store is perfect for finding a gift for your little ones. We love their iconic Sun Valley hoodies and other accessories. Located on the corner of Sun Valley Road and Leadville Ave, you can’t miss it when you’re driving through town.
Chapter One Bookstore
Perfect for classic books and bestsellers, Chapter One Bookstore is a Sun Valley staple. Find great novels and other gifts this season to cross everyone off your list. With over 40 years in the Wood River Valley community, Chapter One has become one of the community’s favorite spots. If your little ones love to read, this is the perfect place to find holiday books and gifts.
