The Wood River Community Fund: An Update on Recipients for Summer 2021

We couldn’t just pick one recipient... we had to pick 3! Being able to connect with and help these members of our community has been an experience our team looks forward to continuing for years to come.

As the month of June has now come to a close, we are excited to share that our very first round of Wood River Community Fund recipients has been chosen. We want to extend a huge thank you to members of our local community who took the time to nominate other individuals, families, and small businesses who were in need of rental assistance. We are continuously overwhelmed by the support of our local community and those who want to offer a helping hand. Thanks to all of those who made a nomination, we have been able to connect with three residents in the Wood River Valley to provide one month or more of rental assistance. For one resident, we were able to work with their landlord to cover all outstanding rent that was previously owed.

About the Wood River Community Fund

Founded in the spring of 2021, the WRCF was born out of incredible financial difficulties felt all across our small mountain town. And with less than 25,000 full-time residents across all of Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey, and Bellevue combined, we saw an opportunity to connect individuals and businesses with the resources they need most, each nominated by others in the community.

From personal and professional rent assistance to covering new appliances, vet bills, groceries, gas, daycare, insurance, medical bills, and more, we want to do our part to help our small mountain community grow and thrive.

How to Nominate an Individual, Family, or Small Business

All nominations were made directly through our website using our secure form, which can be found on our Wood River Community Fund page. We ask a few short questions to get a better understanding of the individual, family, or small business being nominated, as well as contact information in the event that a nominee is selected. There is no limit to the number of times someone can submit a nomination, and we encourage members of the community to share the WRCF page with their friends and family or to nominate someone who they believe might be in need.

Our Application and Award Cycle

Every three months—or each quarter—we select a number of recipients for that WRCF cycle. Applications are open year-round with cutoffs on January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st. Our second awards cycle is set to conclude at the end of September with financial assistance being distributed in the first week of October 2021. You can nominate someone online at any time at Stephanie-Reed.com/wood-river-community-fund

Recipients for Summer 2021 Financial Assistance

As our community continues to face a challenging housing market, we chose to dedicate our first round of support to local individuals, families, or businesses seeking rental assistance. For this initial cycle, multiple nominees were chosen to receive one month of support to cover their residential or commercial lease.

Local Partners and Organizations

To help support our mission, we are actively partnering with organizations, nonprofits, and other businesses across the Wood River Valley to help bring the WRCF's vision to life. From offering additional financial support to other resources and aid, these companies will continue to play an important role in expanding our local reach and impact. We are seeking out other companies across the Valley who are interested in our mission.
